TrainPlayer simulates operation of a model railroad layout. Each track plan is equipped with a layer of electronic track, a user-modifiable assortment of trains, and a control panel resembling an old-fashioned power pack. The user selects a train and
drives it with the control panel.
Operation features include graduated speed control, realistic coupling and uncoupling, one-click switch throw, "yard mode" for controlling speed and direction with a single dial, horn sounds, and other features simulating the model railroad experience.
The view can be zoomed to cover a small area and automatically follow the train around the layout. Multiple trains can be operated at once.
TrackLayer is an add-on module for drawing track, curves, switches, and turntables. The typical user starts with a track plan scanned from a drawing or magazine or prepared in another program, then traces over the track lines using TrackLayer tools. The program is optimized for ease of use and rapid drawing of straight track and circular curves.
Switches are created automatically when track segments join. An operating turntable is created by a single drag. The user without a plan image can sketch and test track plan ideas on a blank page.
This is a new utility developed natively on the Mac using Xcode.
